10 months

Well, we are only 2 months shy of the big one year!! Time is flying by. Here are the current milestones:

  • started clapping this week

  • Loves to play with her tongue

  • Found her sitting up in her crib this morning

  • Pulling up on furniture

  • Same sounds: mama, dada, good and several Mandarin Chinese words that we don't quite understand

  • Thinks Lucy is hilarious

  • A little shy with strangers but warms up and waves and grins at them

  • Likes to watch other babies and kids

  • Enjoys music and toys that talk or sing back to her

  • Actually looks at books instead of eating them; seems to pretend that she's reading them out loud in her own language

  • Loves bathtime and water

  • Eating lots of different types of foods - finger and baby food

Experimenting with her tongue

Summer Fun

We had another good trip to Spartanburg this past week. David had a convention in Charlotte, so he dropped us off on the way. Audrey enjoyed her first bite of watermelon, her first swim in a pool, her 10 month birthday and her first kiss!! Big times for such a little girl.

She spent lots of time with Davis, Carly's adorable two year old. One day, she stayed at their house while I got a hair cut and we also tagged along for a swimming day at Carly's mom's house. They are in love - holding hands in the back seat and loving on each other. He even offered her a Goldfish cracker - true love! We are planning their wedding for June 2034. Carly said that when we left their house, David said, "I dub Audrey (I love Audrey.") Such a cutie.

Father's Day 2010

We spent Father's Day weekend in Alabama with David's family. Aunt Trish and Aunt Jennifer came to visit as well - we had a great time at Grandmother and Granddaddy's house. They had lots of fun new toys for the Boo to play with, and she put on her normal show. Happy Father's Day to Pops, Granddaddy and David. We are truly grateful for all they mean to us!

Girl Time

It was time for another Sparkle City girls' reunion. Carly and Meg came down on Tuesday along with Sam (Meg's youngest). We spent the days playing with the kiddos, eating, talking, and lounging - great combination. Here are a few pics of our fun times.

Out of all of the toys that were scattered about the den, these two fought over the empty butter container. Go figure...

Best shot we could get of all 4

Boo is loving standing up now - we added the legs to her Leap Frog table and she plays like a big girl!

Lazy Day

The Boo and I are enjoying a lazy summer day today. Reading and playing this morning, to Chick fil A for our free spicy chicken sandwich (yum) and playing outside this afternoon. She even managed to get a kiddie pool today at an estate sale for free! Good day.

This is her old lady face - it cracks us up - highlights her lack of teeth.

Nine Month Update

We had a short and successful visit to the doctor this morning. In at 8:30, back home by 9:15 - love it! No shots necessary today - only a toe prick to check iron levels. She didn't even react when the nurse pricked her, so that was nice. She did, of course, scream bloody murder when the nurse leaned her back to measure her because she hates lying down flat nowadays. She is 29 1/2 inches long (95 %) and 18 lbs., 7 ozs. (75%). So, she is getting long and lean - good thing - she can become a supermodel and support her parents! Or, a basketball star, volleyball player, doctor, lawyer, president, whatever.

She's still not crawling, but apparently that is no longer a milestone since many babies skip that stage and go straight to walking due to the whole "sleeping on the back" campaign. She is pulling up on furniture and people. She seems to understand "hey" and loves to wave to people, objects, pictures of herself. A little shy around strangers but generally warms up quickly. Still no teeth! She takes 2 naps a day and sleeps at night from around 7:30-7 AM. We really like her a lot!

Sparkle City

We enjoyed a quick trip back to Sparkle City two weekends ago for some family time. It was great to see everyone, Carole made it from VA and Cindy and Gary from TX. Audrey enjoyed her first picnic dinner - she was a big fan of baked beans and mac and cheese. Here are a few shots.

No trip to Sparkle City is complete with a trip to the "world famous" Beacon. J.C. is a fixture there - he yells out your order as you arrive. He's slightly intimidating for any adult, very loud for an 8 month old that's already been screaming in her car seat all the way there. He said, "Let's yell ' call it' on the count of 3." Yeah - bad idea. Audrey let out a huge scream right as he yelled - I think it's one of the few times someone has been louder than J.C....
