Party Time

David went back to Wilshire and Dallas this week for a reunion, so Butter Bean and I got a special visitor to help us -- Grandmother!! She came all the way from AL to watch the Bug while I worked Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. I even got to get my hair cut and run some other errands yesterday morning before she headed back! We celebrated Grandmother's birthday (Jan. 25) and Audrey's 5 month birthday while she was here. Audrey also tried her first bite of squash - picked fresh from the garden last summer and frozen until her arrival. She loved it! We had a great time - thanks for coming to visit us, Grandmother! 5 months old and about out of the Bumbo
Happy day, special girls!

Yummy squash

Bibs that Grandmother monogrammed for her - aren't they sweet?

The Bug is getting big enough to sit up in her stroller instead of being in her carseat for walks. I think she really loves being able to see everything.

Where are we going, Mom?

Happy Babe

Here are a few pics from this morning after our first nap. When I walked in, she had her arm out of the swaddle - uh oh might be time to start giving that up!!! AhhH!! My heart did skip a beat for a second because I think that might be a bit of a process, but we'll see. But, she was a happy girl and that's always a fun sight.

Having a little tummy time with my matching hat!
Sticking out my tongue - still a favorite past time

Just smiling

Alert - arm out!!

Lazy Days

It's been pretty rainy and dreary around here, so we stayed inside for most of the weekend. We practiced rolling over (almost there!), eating new foods, and reading some books. Here are the pics.

Our new favorite - carrots! Definitely the messiest choice thus far.
What' ya lookin at, Willis?

Green Baby

Last week, the pediatrician told us to go ahead and start baby food so we ventured forth! We started with rice cereal on Friday - Audrey seems to feel neutral about that. She doesn't necessarily love it or hate it, just pretty expressionless. Today, we started with green beans and she seemed to really enjoy them. She ate about half of one of the plastic Gerber containers. Yummy!

Forgive my sweatshirt - it now has a green bean stain on one shoulder to counterbalance the spit up stains on the other side
Loving the spoon

Wearing an equal amount to what actually ends up inside

First Snow

We had a good snowed-in weekend with some friends post doctor visit. Audrey's first snow arrived Thursday night which meant Mommy didn't have to go to work on Friday! That was good since she was still feeling a bit under the weather anyway. We took her out briefly for some shots but she didn't seem too impressed yet! We also had some friends from Emory, Brian and Gina out with their cutie almost 4 year old little boy, Ian. Lucy barked her head off from the yard the whole time, but other than that, all was well. Then, on Sunday we tried church again. Still not perfect but she did manage to sleep in her carseat during Sunday School in the nursery. Sunday night our church friends Chris and Amanda came over for a roast dinner and we got to catch up. Good times.
Next up - blogs on cloth diapering (our latest experiment) and homemade baby food (get out the blender!)

Four Month Check Up

Audrey had her four month check up yesterday. I was slightly dreading it because I heard the shots were more painful than before, so David came along. We got the appointment at 11 AM because I thought she could have more time with her morning nap which might make her more pleasant. We actually changed practices because our old one constantly had at least an hour wait in the waiting room alone (not even counting waiting on the doctor once you're in the room) so I heard this new place was a bit better with that. Unfortunately, by being a new patient, flu season and the day before the 'snow storm on the century', it was quite crowded and we still didn't get to to see the doctor until noon. By that point, Little Bit had been awake for 2 hours and around here - that's her limit!
So, by the time the nurse weighed her and tried to talk to her, she started SCREAMING! I mean, full blown screaming, nose running, getting hoarse, pitching a fit SCREAMING. And, she didn't stop until we left.
The doctor actually thought there was something really wrong with her - her eye was pretty goopy and her nose has been clogged but it is just a cold and a blocked tear duct. She didn't really believe me when I said she was just tired- the doctor wanted me to try to feed her and and she would back to the room when I finished to give her the shots. Needless to say, I knew that wouldn't work and it didn't, so I just convinced her to go ahead with the shots and let us move on.
She ended up with meds for her clogged eye, some cradle cap cream, Benadryl for her congestion, Tylenol for a fever after the shots, and a few other various and sundry remedies. As soon as we put her in the carseat, she fell asleep. When we got home and David lifted her out to put her in the crib, she just opened her eyes and smiled at him - like it was a bad dream or something!
The doctor actually called this afternoon to check on her and make sure she was really okay. That's so funny to me - apparently, other babies don't quite have the same meltdowns due to lack of sleep as our diva does. Oh well - I love my sleep too!
You know, our dog Lucy has a "DANGER" stamp on her vet records to remind them she needs to be muzzled there because she gets so freaked out. Hope our daughter doesn't get the same treatment....

Here are her stats:
weight: 15 lbs., 11 ozs. (90% - healthy girl!!)
Height: 25 inches (75%)

Exercising Baby Style

After we got the tree down this week, we decided it was now time for the Exersaucer!! Our friends, "Aunt" Erin and "Uncle" Jake were here for New Year's, so we decided to put it together - my, how New Year's plans have changed!! Audrey loves it!! She loves all of the different toys and things to touch. Her feet still dangle a bit, but she's so close to reaching the base. Thanks, Jackie (TTB) and Billy for the great gift!

Chillin'
With Uncle Jake showing her how it works

She loves these little balls that turn over

I had to take a picture of her in one of her new Christmas outfits this afternoon. I didn't have any pockets to bring my cell phone downstairs with me, but I realized she did - she's so helpful, that girl! It even matches the purple flowers.
