Halloween 2011

We had an interesting Halloween week this year. Audrey was very excited about pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. The first time I told her that a pumpkin with a carved face is called a "jack o lantern", she said, "No, it's an Audrey" (versus a Jack!). She loved modeling her pumpkin dress before church and showing off her baby pumpkin.
The bow still only lasts about 60 seconds in the hair.
Sunday night we went to a Trunk or Treat at the local Methodist church. It was perfect - fairly small and manageable, only took about 45 minutes to get through. Audrey was perfectly thrilled with her first lollipop and thought we were done! It took a lot of self control on my part to let her pick her own candy - even when she chose a 3 Musketeers over a Heath bar...so sad!

Unfortunately, on Halloween, she was quite sick. She had a runny nose for about a week, but it was becoming progressively worse. By Monday, she had pinkeye, an ear infection and crazy congestion. We took her to the doctor and she "trick or treated" by getting a lollipop there. We were proud of her- she didn't scream and cry like she normally does at the doctor. We have been reading a book called "Pooh Visits the Doctor" and it seemed to really calm her down since she knew about all of the tools. She even commented when the doctor was looking in her nose that she was using her "otoscope!" Then, she wanted to know where her tongue depressor was! Crazy girl.

She did make it to our neighbors' house, Harry and Linda, for one quick treat. Then, back home for medicine, bath and bed! Maybe next year!
